Forests contribute to the livelihoods of more than billion people. Forests and the forest products industry are a source of economic growth and employment, with the value of global forest products traded internationally reaching US$ billion, of which developing countries account for 20 percent and more. This demonstration project provides a protocol for better identifying those factors that contribute to sustainable forest-based economic development in timber dependent communities.
